DR CAILEEN WALKER

After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Chiropractic from Technikon Natal in 2002 and completing a few locum positions, I travelled abroad to work the next 2 years in a Chiropractic practice in Dublin, Ireland, whilst furthering my desire to explore new places and experiences.

Whilst abroad, I completed a one year post graduate certification in extremity joint evaluation and treatment through the AECC (Anglo-European Chiropractic College) and began incorporating Gait evaluation and orthotic prescription into my clinical practice. On my return to Durban in 2004, I worked as an associate in 2 existing practices until moving into a multidisciplinary complimentary health centre in Morningside in 2005. I remained in that practice for 10 years, working alongside Homeopaths, Psychologists, Massage therapists and Yoga and Pilates instructors.

I moved to practice in Westville in 2015 to be closer to home and to give me the flexibility to be more involved with my son’s school activities. I spent the next 5 years in a multidisciplinary health centre in the centre of Westville.

Thereafter, covid forced me to move my practice to home, where I spent the next 5 years. I have recently had the privilege of joining the practice at 29a Wandsbeck Road, where I have been welcomed in by Westville Eye Care and Westville Dental Studio. I hope to have many happy years in this new convenient space across the road from Westville Boys High School.

I have a special interest in general family practice, gait evaluation and orthotic advice as well as rehabilitation and exercise for pain management and self care.

I have been active in the Chiropractic community in South Africa since 2005, serving locally as the Chairperson of the KZN Branch of the Chiropractic Association from 2005 to 2007, then nationally as a council member of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa from 2008 to 2016.

I am registered with the Allied Professions Council of South Africa and am a Member of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa.

My greatest professional satisfaction comes from interacting with patients on a daily basis. I maintain a philosophy of building strong therapeutic relationships to be able to assist patients with their own personal goals and needs. I am continuously amazed by the uniqueness of the human experience in all its forms; physically, emotionally and spiritually.
